China and the Internet

From Never Again

A Nick Kristof blog (US Journalist, active around Darfur) had some interesting ideas on raising awareness about the situation in Darfur:

“Also, don’t be afraid to think out of the box. For example, more coverage in the Arab press would be a huge help, so think about writing letters to Al Jazeera or Al Ahram. And China is potentially hugely important because of its support for Sudan and protection of it on the Security Council. The challenge is to get China ’s 12 million bloggers interested in Darfur . If its bloggers – who are pretty good at expressing indignation – could work some up at their government’s complicity in genocide, that would have a big impact in China and would end up saving lives. So if any of you are Chinese bloggers, the ball’s in your court!”
